Itches
A running list of things that make me itch:
With respect to Narrator:
- Because themes are in the appserver, it’s impossible to add a theme without stopping and starting the server
- Because themes are in the appserver, there’s no consistent way to edit themes
- There’s no easy way to inline-edit a story
- There’s no easy way to modify a theme programmatically.
- There’s no easy way to add a new series.
- There’s no easy way to associate a new series with a new theme.
- There’s no easy way to re-arrange the order of a series.
- It ought to be possible to pick a series of stories and automatically generate an epub.
- It ought to be possible to be highly specific about page design in an epub.
- It ought to be possible to pick a series of stories– and a specialized theme– and generate a PDF appropriate for LightningSource or Lulu.
- It ought to be possible to easily edit the cover of the book thus produced.
With respect to Liferea:
- In the current architecture, it’s impossible to use when it’s updating. It needs to be a client/server architecture.
Other itches:
- Almost all Git UIs suck.
- Almost all project management UIs suck.
